The Islas Marias Buffer Zone
Description
This area fishes just outside of the island buffer zone which is world famous for giant world record tuna year round. This protected biosphere island chain is an UNESCO world heritage site with islands rising up from over 10,000 feet of water creating a zone full of life. This area starts 65 miles from port and goas as far as 150 miles. This trip is recommended for trips of 2.5 days or longer. If you are looking for giant fish and to see raw nature, this is the trip for you. We regularly catch big tuna, marlin and dorado on these trips. We can also offer stops at Puerto Baleto since we have recently received permits to visit the area for touristic purposes. No fishing is allowed inside the zone but there are many opportunities for sightseeing, scuba diving and snorkeling.
